In general, client diversity and specifically validator client diversity is an important aspect of [decentralization and resilience of the Ethereum network](https://blog.ethereum.org/2020/08/21/validated-why-client-diversity-matters/), and a lot of work has been conducted by various teams to attempt to depict the current situation of the network, including: [stereum’s client diversity watch](https://stereum.net/client-diversity-watch/), Michael Sproul’s [fingerprinting work](https://twitter.com/sproulM_/status/1440512518242197516), Miga Labs’ great insights [based on their network crawler](https://twitter.com/alrevuelta/status/1457746645391642631), and ChainSafe’s [nodewatch](https://www.nodewatch.io/). As both a part of our [commitment to decentralization](https://blog.lido.fi/the-road-to-trustless-ethereum-staking/), as well as our efforts to [identify and minimize risk related to validator operators](https://blog.lido.fi/offline-slashing-risks-are-self-cover-options-enough/), Lido is happy to publish its first node and validator metrics report. Lido has set out to: (a) identify its current node and validator client footprint on the network, and (b) together with our NOs and the community, align on targets and steps to achieve these targets in the medium term (6-12 months). We’ve been late in getting these reports out, but have now caught up thanks to the hard work by @sabrychiaa . In the meantime we’re working on an alternative mechanism to deliver this data and insights that will both be simpler to update / maintain and give readers more interactive options to compare and contrast data over time. ---

Thank you for these reports and the transparency @sabrychiaa @Izzy ! Do you think it would be possible to have the name of the different Node Operators (if they are public/regulated entities) and the breakdown of how many validators each of them are running in this alternative mechanism? ---

Hello, we have recently considered cooperation with lido ethereum, and now we want to join goerli test network node operator first. How can we apply to be a node operator in goerli? Your opertor portal is not useful now. ---

Currently the testnet is only used as a testing bed for operators whose applications have been accepted by the DAO so that they can get familiar with the mechanism of the node operator registry and deposit functionality. You can contact the node operator management workstream via [nom@lido.fi](mailto:nom@lido.fi) for additional info. ---

Not currently, no, as not all NOs are currently comfortable with this information being shared, for a variety of reasons (and obviously sharing it for some makes it easier to deduce the rest). ---
