Announcement for professional Node Operators regarding CSM

Lido DAO contributors are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for the Community Staking Module: CSM is going permissionless! After a successful Snapshot vote and subject to on-chain voting by the DAO at the end of the month, the soon-to-be permissionless module geared towards solo and community stakers will finally be open to all Node Operators!

CSM remains focused on empowering solo and community stakers by offering competitive bonds, smoothed rewards, and an accessible route to joining the Lido Node Operator set. This transition builds on the Early Adopter period, which onboarded over 300 Node Operators and prioritized independent stakers with reduced collateral requirements.

While CSM is geared towards solo and community stakers, it is clear that there is interest from professional Node Operators to also participate via this permissionless method of joining the Node Operator set. Some are also considering to use CSM for Validator-as-a-Service products or in other staking products to provide better rewards on customer-sourced bonds. To maintain transparency and support decentralization analysis, professional operators are highly encouraged to self-identify:

  • If you plan to participate in CSM: fill in the CSM Mainnet Node Operator Contact Info form.
  • Additionally, if you plan on running VaaS or other direct to consumer products on top of CSM:
    • Provide the documentation for the product (if available) or information on your plans (blog posts / press releases), which can be shared on the Telegram chat.
    • In order to promote transparency and map the validator keys and NOs related to the service, we also ask for a source of data we can track (API, Dune query, contract documentation on how the events work etc.)

Your expertise and commitment are key to driving the success of this new chapter of CSM and to foster a thriving staking community.
