Establishing the APM Committee

Commit-Boost (PBS) Decision

The APM Committee has carefully reviewed the PERCH proposal and voted unanimously (6/6) in favor of adding Commit-Boost (PBS module) to the APMs Allow List.

This decision applies exclusively to the PBS module; all other modules relying on the Commit-Boost sidecar will be evaluated independently in future assessments.

The committee highlighted several key considerations:

  • Widespread adoption: Commit-Boost is already in use by ~10% of Ethereum validators, with months of testing and no reported issues.
  • Security profile: The module does not require validator key access, lowering risk.
  • Scalability support: Features such as multiplexing can support Node Operators managing large fleets.

In addition, committee members made constructive recommendations to improve best-practice usage:

  1. Review recent changes following the Sigma Prime audit for any material impacts.
  2. Include Commit-Boost in Ethereum’s client testing suite to catch future regressions or incompatibilities.
  3. Provide Docker examples and support for running the sidecar directly via Docker to improve accessibility.

These suggestions have been directly communicated to the development team.

Summary

The Commit-Boost PBS module has been approved for inclusion in the APMs Allow List. Node Operators will be free to adopt it once the associated policy is ratified via the Snapshot vote, currently live.
