mev-commit (Primev) Decision
The APM Committee has carefully reviewed the PERCH proposal and voted in favor of adding mev-commit to the APMs Allow List.
The committee highlighted several key considerations:
-
Operational simplicity: mev-commit’s architecture reuses the existing PBS pipeline, providing a pragmatic integration path familiar to Node Operators. This minimizes infrastructure overhead and reduces the likelihood of operational issues.
-
Mainnet maturity: The module has been active on mainnet for a sustained period without reported incidents, helping build confidence in its stability.
-
Diversity benefits: Inclusion of mev-commit increases diversity within the PBS and APM ecosystem, offering Node Operators an additional option for MEV markets.
In addition, committee members raised several points of caution and recommendations:
-
Security and testing coverage: Approval assumes that the Lido team has conducted a full security assessment and that at least 5-10 Node Operators have successfully tested mev-commit in Hoodie and on mainnet without issues in recent weeks.
-
Deployment timing: Some committee members advised caution in rolling out mev-commit broadly until after the next Ethereum hardfork, to ensure ecosystem stability and compatibility. This will be decided internally and communicated to NOs.
-
Centralization and code quality: While no incidents have been reported, feedback noted that the mev-commit protocol remains relatively centralized under Primev and that parts of the off-chain codebase are still maturing. Continuous audit coverage and transparency on improvements were encouraged.
-
Economic sustainability: The long-term economic model remains unclear, particularly as block reward incentives decrease. Ongoing monitoring of the mechanism’s sustainability is advised.
Summary
The mev-commit module has been approved for inclusion in the APMs Allow List. Node Operators will be free to adopt it once a successful period of testing is executed. The NOM team will reach out directly to known interested NOs, while others are welcome to express interest in the mev-commit PERCH post.
