Proposal to mint LDO tokens into secured wallet

Hello everyone,

Over the last few weeks, Lido community members came to consensus that a good way to reduce risk for the DAO in minting LDO to a new secured wallet controlled by DeFiance Capital would be to perform a live-witnessed identity verification of representatives from DeFiance. We thus organized a meeting, chaired by a lawyer acting with Lido, Eric Hill.

In this meeting, we split it into two halves: the first NOT being recorded, and the second being recorded. Participants in this meeting were:

  1. Obaid Khan, Operations at Lido (screen name Aurelius, aka me)
  2. Isidoros Passadis, Master of Validators (NOM) at Lido
  3. Felix Lutsch, Chief Commercial Officer at Chorus One
  4. Arthur Cheong, Founding Partner at DeFiance Capital
  5. Jacob Goh, Investments at DeFiance Capital

In the half that was not recorded, we carried out three steps. A copy of the script for this meeting that was prepared prior to it taking place is found here.

Step 1: Live verification of the signature submitted by DeFiance Capital from their compromised address found here. Participants in the call saw me enter in the details to Etherscan’s signature verification tool and then convert the message from a hexadecimal string to a UTF-8 string.

Step 2: Live verification of the signature submitted by DeFiance Capital from their new address that they are asking us to mint and vest LDO to, found here. Participants in the call saw me enter in the details to Etherscan’s signature verification tool and then convert the message from a hexadecimal string to a UTF-8 string.

Step 3: The call was handed over to Eric Hill, who asked Arthur Cheong to present government identification to the camera. Eric Hill, and other participants, verified the identification document provided, and Eric Hill recorded some details. After all participants were satisfied. we concluded this step.

We then moved to the recorded half of the meeting.

The recording for the meeting is found here, accessible through the access passcode w&v.MH13

In this recorded half, all witnesses were introduced and then, one-by-one, were asked to attest to the first three steps of this meeting. All participants indicated they were satisfied with the two signatures provided, as well as the identification document check (not recorded) that was conducted in front of all participants.

Thus, on behalf of participants in this exercise from the Lido ecosystem, we believe that it would be safe to proceed and mint LDO into the new secured wallet as is being requested by DeFiance Capital. We are satisfied by the signatures provided and also satisfied by the identification document check conducted by Eric Hill.
