RockLogic Monthly Notes - 10/2024

Dear Lido Community,

Welcome to our monthly news, where we provide you with updates on our efforts to establish a secure Ethereum environment. Here’s a summary of notable developments since our last update.

Lido x SSV Mainnet Cohort 2

Continued active participation and management of Thoughtful Tiger Cluster. Completed further task outlines by Lido Simple DVT Mainnet Guide.

Advancements & Result:

  • Successfully finished first batch of 20 validators
  • Reported emerging issues to Lido and SSV teams and implemented provided fixes.
  • Monitored the health of SSV nodes with DKG services of all cluster members.
  • Provided support to cluster members including node and service configuration, log collection etc

Next Steps:

  • Member: Continue to perform required cluster member duties and proactively monitor the health and performance of SSV nodes and DKG services
  • Cluster Co-Ordinator: Maintain open communication with other cluster members, offering support and guidance as needed. Proceed with onboarding subsequent batches of validator according to Lido guide

Lido x SSV Testnet Round 4:

Continued participation in Journalistic Mama Cluster. Completed further tasks as outlined by Lido Simple DVT Testnet Guide, focusing on node maintenance and key management

Advancements & Result:

  • Upgraded SSV services to the latest version
  • Continuously monitored the health of the SSV node and DKG services
  • Verified keys and signed transactions ensuring active participation in the cluster

Next Steps:

  • Perform required cluster member duties and proactively monitor and maintain node health to ensure optimal performance.

Lido x SafeStake Pilot Testnet Round 1:

Successfully completed Round 1 of the SafeStake Pilot Testnet as part of the Clever Coyote Cluster

Advancements & Result:

  • Actively participated in Round 1 of the SafeStake Pilot Testnet, fulfilling all requirements and contributing to the testing phase

Lido x Obol: Frolicsome Frog

Collaborated with other cluster members to investigate an incident where a block was proposed with incorrect fee recipient.

Advancements & Result:

  • We analyzed our node configurations & logs and shared our finding with the cluster.

Block Production issue – Teku

Identified a compatibility issue between Teku VC version 24.8 and Teku BN version 24.10.1, where JSON block production fails.

Advancements & Result:

  • Collaborated with the Teku team to identify the root cause and potential solutions
  • Received workaround, enable SSZ (default) block production by removing the --beacon-node-ssz-blocks-enabled=false flag from the VC configuration.

Next Steps:

  • Stay informed about any further updates from Teku team regarding the same

Enhanced System reliability

Added new more reliable hypervisors to our infrastructure. These will act as a backup for our older systems ensuring smooth operations of StereumPlus.

Advancements & Result:

  • These hypervisors will serve as a fallback system in case of issue with existing hosts.

Next Steps:

  • Monitor the performance and stability of both new and old systems

New Centralized Logging and Monitoring System

We have implemented a new centralized system for logging and monitoring for our Data Centers.

Advancements & Result:

  • Implemented rollout and rollback procedures for new systems internally

Next Steps:

  • Conduct thorough testing before proceeding with full deployment

Lido general:

Oracle allowlist update: Applied Oracle allowed list changes to all Lido validator ejector instance for holesky

Fullnode Upgrades: Upgraded all Lido x SSV fullnodes for both mainnet and testnet

MEV relay Update: Updated MEV relays on all instances to improve performance and ensure optimal reward collection

SSH Key deployment update: Updated our SSH key deployment for Lido instances to enhance security and streamline access management.

Debugging ExitSigner: Improving ExitSigner for message generation and ensuring accurate exit scheduling.

I recall you’ve open sourced the Slashing Guard you developed in the past. Is this a also tool you’ve open sourced?
