Stakin is now part of The Tie

Hello Lido community,

We’d like to share that Stakin (https://stakin.com/), a Lido node operator participating in the Curated and DVT operator sets, has been acquired by The Tie (https://www.thetie.io/), an institutional services provider for digital assets.

From a node operator and technical operations standpoint, nothing changes. Validators continue to be operated by the same team, using the same infrastructure based in the same geolocation, processes, and security setup, including a diversified Ethereum client stack with Besu and Teku as primary implementations to support client decentralization, Geth maintained as a fallback, and SSV-based infrastructure for DVT operations. The full Stakin team, including the co-founders, remains in place and continues to manage day-to-day operations.

As part of the acquisition, the Stakin operations become part of The Tie’s legal structure, and the Stakin brand will continue to be used for validator operations under “Stakin by The Tie.” There is no change to infrastructure, no validator migration and no change to custody or key management.

Beyond continuity, we view this transaction as an opportunity to increase institutional participation in the Lido ecosystem over time, including through upcoming initiatives such as Lido v3 and stVaults, which we expect to offer to institutional customers via the synergies unlocked by this combination.

For additional context on the transaction and its rationale, please see the public announcement here: https://www.thetie.io/insights/the-tie-acquires-stakin-1-5b-aud-to-launch-infrastructure-solutions-division

The Stakin team is excited about this next chapter, and looks forward to the opportunities this creates, while continuing to operate as a reliable and independent node operator within the Lido ecosystem.

We’re sharing this update transparently and early, and welcome guidance from the Lido Node Operator Sub-Governance Group (LNOSG) on whether any additional steps are required, consistent with how similar node operator acquisitions have been handled previously.

Happy to answer any questions.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

We’re excited to have Stakin join The Tie and are fully aligned with the approach outlined above. From our side, there are no changes to validator operations: the same Stakin team continues to operate the infrastructure, using the same processes, security setup, and with the same operational responsibility. There is no validator or infrastructure migration, as well as no change in how validator and LIDO operations are handled. The acquisition is focused on long-term strategic alignment, offering new opportunities to staking customers and partners such as Lido and expanding institutional services, while preserving Stakin’s operational set-up and continuity as a Lido node operator.

Hi team, thanks for sharing the news.

Just confirming that the information has been received and will be forwarded to the LNOSG (Lido Node Operator Subgovernance Group). The group will review the details and discuss any considerations related to the acquisition.

We’ll keep this thread updated if there are any updates or requests for additional information.

Submitted by the NOM contributor workstream on behalf of the Lido Node Operator Sub-Governance Group (LNOSG):

Background and Context

The Lido Node Operator Sub-Governance Group (LNOSG) has reviewed the recent business changes affecting the node operator Stakin, a participant in the Lido Curated Module and Simple DVT Module.

Stakin has disclosed that it has been acquired by The Tie, an institutional services provider for digital assets. According to the information shared by Stakin on the forum and through follow-up discussions with the NOM contributor workstream, validator operations will continue to be managed by the existing Stakin team. No changes to infrastructure, validator operations, geographic deployment, custody, or key management are planned, and no validator migration is expected as a result of the acquisition. The Stakin brand will continue to be used for validator operations under “Stakin by The Tie.”

The LNOSG has considered the information provided by Stakin in the forum post and related context regarding the transaction.

Conclusion

Based on the information reviewed, the LNOSG has not identified any concerns that would warrant proposing changes to Stakin’s current participation as a node operator in the Lido Curated Module.

Proposal

Allow Stakin (operating as “Stakin by The Tie”) to continue node operator activities in Lido as-is.

Next Steps

This proposal is open for community feedback for a period of one week. If no major objections are raised during this time, the LNOSG suggests proceeding with a Snapshot vote to receive DAO confirmation regarding the changes.
