I had staked Ethereum in Lido for a period of time and wanted to unstake. So, in Ledgerlive, I mistakenly transferred the STETH directly to my ETH address, without unstaking, which I now know is the wrong thing to do. I lost the tokens. The tokens are sitting in an account somewhere which is traceable on etherscan.

Since stETH is still sitting in your Ethereum address, you still have the full control of your stETH. you can still unstake your stETH. Please check the guide: How do I unstake my stETH? | Lido: Help
Since you are using ledger, you can submit the unstaking request via ledger live app.
