Dear Lido Community and LEGO Council,
Summary
This June, we proposed a grant request that supports Lido Community Lifeguards, which got approved later on. The objective was to expand the awareness of CSM and DVT to strengthen the community of solo stakers in Japan/APAC by organizing an event and making resources such as writings and podcast episodes.
We are pleased to report that Tané has effectively fulfilled the objectives of the CLI grant.
- We hosted a side event of EDCON, where 100+ people got interested in CSM and DVT.
We had more than 100 people at the venue, the majority of them being Japanese working in the various fields of crypto including exchanges, enterprises, and startups. There were also attendees from outside Japan, especially from the APAC region.
Two sessions were held for both CSM and DVT, and we had a lot of questions in the Q&A session, proving that we gained strong interest from the community.
Although it wasn’t within the scope, we maximized this opportunity by also making these sessions into YouTube videos to make them accessible to those who failed to attend this event.
- We published Japanese Articles and Podcasts about Lido, DVT, and CSM.
There had not been a single resource that had abundant information on what Lido had been doing as well as those staking modules. This time we created 6+ episodes of Podcast, 3 writings and a translated guide about the CSM node setup originally created by Sam.
Because this kind of resource is scarce in Japan, we received good feedback on those materials, proving that they reached the community and delivered the information as a starting point for bringing them into the Lido community.
We believe this initiative was successful and meaningful for both Lido and the Japanese ecosystem because of the gap we managed to fill; the Japanese ecosystem has different kinds of crypto community but doesn’t have access to the information overseas, while for Lido it is not easy to access to the local community because of the language barrier.
As an outcome, we already saw some community-organized events about Lido and solo-staking. This is something we have barely seen before, and we believe this is a good indicator of the impact this initiative made.
We will keep committed to supporting Lido’s mission of keeping Ethereum decentralized, accessible to all, and resistant to censorship in various aspects including initiatives like this community education.
We will be planning an additional program for this as we believe continuity is one of the key success factors for community education/engagement.
Activities and Achievements
1. Organizing Educational Events
We organized an on-site educational event that attracted over 100 attendees. The event facilitated meaningful interactions and active discussions, including Q&A sessions.
Our aims were:
- To expand awareness of Lido’s staking modules by gathering various kinds of people within the field.
- To foster active discussions among participants and speakers, ensuring everyone leaves with deep understanding.
- To contribute to the crypto ecosystem in both Japan and worldwide.
We’d already succeeded in creating venues for intense discussions through builder-centric events like MEV Day and Tané Summit #0. This time, we hosted Tané Summit #1 as an even more enhanced event.
Key highlights of this event included:
-
The majority of participants were Japanese and most of the rest were from the APAC region. Those include founders, builders, researchers working in this industry, and there was also attendance from enterprises and exchanges.
-
Active questions were posed after each presentation, creating a high-energy atmosphere and a high-quality learning environment.
During Sam’s session, attendees asked several questions about managing slashing risk and APY, indicating strong interest from the community.
-
We covered diverse topics of crypto that brought different kinds of attendees.
The topics we covered during the event included Modular Blockchain, Staking & Restaking, ZK (Zero-Knowledge proofs), FHE (Fully Homomorphic Encryption), Privacy, MEV (Maximal Extractable Value), and AI x Crypto.
2. Creation and Publication of Videos
Although not originally within the scope of the grant, we produced and published videos of the event. This initiative ensures that the content is accessible to a wider audience and allows for continuous learning beyond the event.
3. Development of Japanese Articles and Podcasts
There was a huge gap to be bridged; the Japanese ecosystem has different kinds of crypto communities but doesn’t have access to the information overseas, while for Lido it is not too easy to access the local community because of the language barrier.
To fill this gap, we created in-depth Japanese articles and podcasts about Lido, intentionally designing the content to address the needs and interests of the Japanese crypto community, especially solo stakers. Rather than solely focusing on the Community Staking Module (CSM), we structured our content to first convey the overall importance and appeal of Lido. By covering a broad range of topics in their native language, we aimed to help the audience correctly understand Lido’s significance within the Ethereum ecosystem.
The topics followed what was proposed initially.
- Introduction of Lido
- Introducing (Re)GOOSE #1: The background
- Introducing (Re)GOOSE #2: Strategy (Lido Alliance)
- Why is Lido good for Ethereum: Path to decentralization
- Overview of technical decentralization — introducing the SimpleDVT, and CSM
- Deeper dive into the CSM: how to participate in the early adoption period and how communities can work with Lido via the Community Lifeguards
Our approach included:
- Using simple language: we deliberately employed straightforward vocabulary and provided additional explanations to make the content accessible to individuals who are not too familiar with crypto. Simplifying complex concepts ensured that even newcomers could grasp the material.
- Building a cohesive narrative: we organized the information to create an overarching story that naturally led the audience toward exploring the CSM. By gradually introducing concepts, we guided listeners and readers from foundational knowledge to more advanced topics, culminating in actionable steps they could take.
- Enhancing engagement through podcasts: recognizing the value of interactive content, we designed our podcasts to be engaging and varied. We incorporated interactive elements and varied the pacing to maintain listener interest, making them easy and enjoyable to listen to.
Such comprehensive explanations of Lido in Japanese were previously nonexistent, and having readily accessible resources is crucial for ongoing education and engagement within the community.
After the release, we received good feedback on those materials. This proved that there was a need for these kinds of resources and that these resources gained communities’ interest in CSM and DVT.

After a discussion with Sam, we shifted the scope of this CSM guide translation as there was another translation project occurred.
Conclusion
We are deeply grateful to the Lido Community and the LEGO Council for entrusting us with this opportunity to educate and empower the Japanese crypto community. By overcoming language barriers through organizing impactful events, creating accessible educational content, and fostering meaningful discussions, we have significantly advanced the understanding and engagement of solo-stakers and enthusiasts in Japan. This resulted in seeing more staking-related events in Japan.
We share the same values that emphasize decentralization and censorship resistance inherent in Ethereum and Lido. Leveraging our background in Japan, we aim to continue contributing to Lido in various ways.
